January Thaw
It is a phenomenon in Vermont that temperatures rise
for a few days in that bitter cold month.
Feels colder sometimes, the roller coaster,
20 below f to 40 above.
It fools you sometimes,
With a hint of spring smells.
Then with a snap,
So it seems,
The temperature will fall again,
Freezing any thawing things
Until the next thaw.
