Psalm 6

 Easter Sunday.

Psalm 6

    [1] O LORD, rebuke me not in your anger,

        nor discipline me in your wrath. 

    [2] Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am languishing;

        heal me, O LORD, for my bones are troubled. 

    [3] My soul also is greatly troubled.

        But you, O LORD—how long?

    [4] Turn, O LORD, deliver my life;

        save me for the sake of your steadfast love. 

    [5] For in death there is no remembrance of you;

        in Sheol who will give you praise?

    [6] I am weary with my moaning;

        every night I flood my bed with tears;

        I drench my couch with my weeping. 

    [7] My eye wastes away because of grief;

        it grows weak because of all my foes.

    [8] Depart from me, all you workers of evil,

        for the LORD has heard the sound of my weeping. 

    [9] The LORD has heard my plea;

        the LORD accepts my prayer. 

    [10] All my enemies shall be ashamed and greatly troubled;

        they shall turn back and be put to shame in a moment.

My Interpretation 

My Plea:

Lord, Dry My Years 

Stop my Weeping 

With Your Gentle Healing ❤️‍🩹 Hands

Deliver Me From Anguish,

You will take care of the Trespassers 

In You I shall Trust until the End of Time.

Spring should be here by now.

It was spring like Friday,

Then yesterday, a crashing cold front.

Turned my mood introspective.

Easter is not about the weather,

Or bunnies.

It's not about the candy

Even though it helps...

It is about the Golden Rule, truly a universal value.

It's about resurrection,

Rebirth,

Renew,

Spring,

Where Love is everywhere.

Darkness in the Light

My memories of Easter are mental snaphots and video clips of Mom putting a new dress on me,
me feeling awkward and flat footed, standing lined up with my brothers for pictures
with my new dress and shoes on.
Easter candy and great foods awaited my completion of church attendance.
The images in the church, confusing.

when i saw the expensive chocolate cross in the aisle at w-mart,
it jogged me,
materialismus.
Jogged again,
that was the guy pushing me from behind
in a hurry for Easter.

then the kid
i helped him bag the groceries and he thanked me
i told him i sensed people were a little cranky today
and that tomorrow they would all be praying for atonement.
he laughed for a second.
then
i happened on this article
which helps me clarify how
He died for our sins

Eggs and rabbits and images of Christ and memories of wearing a new frilly dress
when I was so young.
A photo taken,
lost in time
forever in my mind
with the images
of the religious symbols at the church where we went and sat on hard benches
while sweating and
listening for the simple version,
be nice to others,
you reap what you sow,
God will forgive,
not forget.
Let's feast.
And chocolate, lots of chocolate.
