Pain Is the other Vital Sign

 Pain

The final frontier

On my journey to understand this severe unrelenting pain, I remembered being a nurse and hearing Pain is the Fifth Vital Sign.
Temperature
Pulse
Respirations
Blood Pressure
Hint: you can Measure these...
Pain, however, cannot be Measured
It can be Assessed by Clinicians
Who will transcribe what they hear, the patient describing it
My pain is severe at times,
(I prefer Cannabis for pain.which was legal and available in Vermont.
Not here in Virginia. Guess they’re working on it. Wish they’d hurry.)
I attribute some of my pain to Gadolinium Toxicity.
11 MRI’s with gadolinium in 9 years.
I keep being told by Doctors that it’s not possible. That it all comes out after my test. A few people like me disagree.
Funny, there are a few studies... How to tell my Doctors?
I’ll do my best, no expectations.

Gnarly

Gnarly

Pain is twisted
Torsional Forces
Twisting
Torquing
The Wrong Way.

Make it Stop
It Won’t
It’s
Unrelentingly
Strong.

How can something be
Horrible
And
Still be Better?

Rerun... Travelogue for the Universe: the frowny face. :-(

Pain

Once again on my mind
The phony Pain Scale Just doesn’t cut it somedays.

Travelogue for the Universe: the frowny face. :-(: The frowny face made me smile, It was a tool for nurses to assess pain. Frown is pain, Frown plus tears worse,  smile means pain f...

Pain in Charge

Pain

Is running my post
Today

Deep and Persistent
It Won’t
Go Away

Scarred Gnarly Nerves
Cut my skin like a Knife
A Spike in my Thumb
Cutting at my Life

I won’t scream
Nor Cry
No, I won’t Die
Of this Pain I endure
I’ll just Pray for a Cure.

Pain Control in The Current U.S.

Opioids killing people
Medical Cannabis at a Crossroads

Some States have Legalized Recreational Cannabis
Some States Illegal and All States Federally Illegal
Patients in Pain
Searching for answers
Research badly needed
Good research

Cannabis: a patient pleads

Those who choose to keep Cannabis as an Illegal Substance, obviously do not know the Extraordinarily Distressed Suffering of The Pain of Multiple Sclerosis-Millions of Nerves, stripped of protective myelin. They don’t know what it’s like to sit on the neurologist’s table when your Doctor says, your Pain is part of Multiple Sclerosis. I could prescribe Opioids or write for Cannabis.
Opioids are fraught with complications.
What she didn’t know was what a hassle the state made for access. Rules, restrictions. Dispensary with limited supply, mysteriously dispensed, for absurdly high costs.
Blue Cross? No, they would cover Opioids but not Cannabis.
Medicare? Same Diff.
Where’s my denial with appeal letter?
When my money goes dry,
I’ll fade away on Opioids,
covered since I’m past the donut hole.

Travelogue for the Universe: Themes of Pain

Thought I'd repost some of my Pain writings.
This as the Vermont legislature ponders with deep thought
Incremental legalization of #cannabis
Or Legalization Lite.
Painful Progress

What if there was a plant that could save your life...

Well, what if?

I was expanding my thinking about the effects of #cannabis #MedicalCannabis
When the discovery was made recently about
Lymphatic system in the brain.
My awkwardly worded discussion with my neurologist,
What if the CBD-THC having greater Osmolality,
Draws Lymphatic Fluids away from inflamed nerve tissue,
Brain or elsewhere..?
He nodded,
Makes sense,
What if the lymphatic fluids are sent by and intended by the body to protect the raw nerves?
An unintended consequence is lymphatic fluid increasing pressure in a fixed space, accumulation of metabolites, cellular waste, irritating nerves further.
Had to write this down while fresh in my head.

Pain

Pain

Pain, pain, blow away,
Get lost you badass,
Go astray.
Don't come back another day,
You're not welcome,
Pain,
Pain,
Go
Away!
