The Sun II

The Sun II

lingered on the horizon,
shining laser beam
in the old man's eyes,
he did not care anymore,
this was his last on Earth,

shone on the woman's forehead,
just as her water broke and she felt a
mighty contraction
and began her new life with
a new life,

ducked behind the rainclouds
and the ball players called it
a game,

touched the little seeds the girl
planted,
and they grew,

warmed my face,
feeling something special,
beyond the words,
& reminded me of the
new day.

Solar Stream

Solar Stream

It is a solar stream,
as old as the universe,
captured by Nasa's cameras
like never before.

The sun sends out
a bundle of plasma
and lights up
the Northern Sky.

Does the stream mean
something more than
a burst of light
sent into space?

Could the travelers
of tomorrow,
ride the wave
of the Solar stream?

More photos not taken

Photos Not taken again,
this past weekend,
and last weekend,
great memories,
The Sun & Weather,
Music, visions,
feelings,
interactions,
rolled up into
tight little protein packets
we call our treasured memories,
stored right there,
where we store the best ones,
who needs a picture of that?

Sun Day

Sun Day
The sun is coming,
must have faith,
it does this every day.

First so dark,
Then just a glimmer,
Then full on,
Oh Here it comes.

And I anger
at life's bumps
and bruises,
and where we are,
how did we get here,
why do we not have more.

And I look at what
I saw as nothing,
and I see
we really have it all.

Love and food,
supporting partners,
caring people
all around.

And as people
shock or hate me
Or wonder who I
really am,

I have to keep here
on my pathway,
lit by sunshine
even in the rain.

Have faith that you are
Where you are supposed to be
and if it is a trial,
look for the pearl.

And if you wanted
more than you have now,
remember someone else
has only faith.

And if you lost
the faith of living
may you have another sun.

think it over,
reconsider,
may you see
the sun again.

this is part of the psalms challenge
my sunday school...thanks to robert's weekly Psalms Challenge http://tagein-tagaus-athen.blogspot.com/ and dina http://jerusalemhillsdailyphoto.blogspot.com/ for helping me try to

Solar Storms

Solar storms seemed invisible,
until now.
This is well worth watching,
NASA has an amazing website,
and this is an amazing stereo viewpoint
many years in the making,
a product of creativity,
science,
and wonder.

Roses & Sundrops

Roses

Sundrops

We hurried to plant what we could in between
rain showers
&
cold fronts.
I snapped a couple of pictures of flowers
and had no time to edit.
We did stop once or twice to smell the fragrant roses.
Sundrops shunning the clouds and giving us bright color
and hope.

Sunshine and Shadows

I am so honored to receive
The Sunshine award,
from my dear friend Herrad,
who lives across the pond.

Stay tuned, it will pass to another blogger soon.

Meanwhile, while moderating my comments, I received a comment
on "Which 251".
That post was an attempt to explain that there are 251 towns in the state and about
as many different tax codes with their different ways of taking property
when you do not pay
"the man".
So rather than just let this poignant comment just be put on the shelf,
I am posting on my Sunshine post,
So sweet of Herrad to give Sunshine,
and the light from these anonymous comrade from a neighboring town
has made my day all the better.

anonymously received from my comments:
We have a lot of empathy for you. Our /Charlotte property tax is 26% of our taxable income. We are elderly, and have been told that legislators want to help keep us (the elderly)in our homes and that they are working on restructuring the school tax (the culprit). The legislature knows about our situation--we'll see how long it takes to get relief! We are at their mercy unless something like a class action suit can be brought. I assume you have written to all the legislators? Best wishes!!

For every sunbeam,
a shadow.

Lightning

I was born
of the
lightning
and the
thunder
and the rain.

And when
the dry spells happen,
there the rain is once again.

Sometimes too much,
Sometimes not enough.

Some days water pulls you down,
Some days it pushes you up.

Funny how the rain
it pours,
after lightning
and thunder,
sometimes that lifts my spirit
and
some days,
it puts me under.

addendum: did the massive solar flare touch off
the very impressive t-storms last noc?
We had a strike right behind the  house which inspired my poem.
I wrote it on paper because we had to shut down
all our phones with these storms.
Check out the links in the astronomy pic of the day-
awesome to watch the Sun close up....

Sunrise and Crows

The Sunrise this morning was nice with some fog in the valley and still snow left from the big one.

spring sunrise, monkton vermont
The second photo, below, is an image with 2 of the trees Dad mentioned, the tall spruce, is one he planted
from a sapling he dug up and brought home in his pocket from in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. The other the straightest locust of them all-perfect he called it. I heard the crows overhead and snapped this as I saw them in my peripheral vision.
Tonight I loaded it in the computer, zoomed in and saw no crows. Fred, of course, matter of factly said dryly, "But of course you cannot capture the image of a crow. They won't let you. ".

Spring is in the air. Red Winged Blackbirds are back.

Sun and Warmth

Sun and Warmth making a serious effort today to boost our winter weary collective moods.
We might make 50 F and the sun will be bright.
The road is half washed out. We begin again rebuilding the road, lately eroded by
rain on frozen ground, running off with the sand and dirt.
The sun just peeked over the mountains, reminding me of that pesky time change.
Must go to work, travel many miles before I get home to see the Sun setting in the west.
Well, more accurately, the Earth will turn about 1/3rd of the way.
We are the ones moving, feeling like we are standing still.
The Sun stays still.
And provides our warmth, light and life.
Happy to see Spring start.
and to see the Sun today.

Solar Flying Cinder

Today's astronomy picture showed
The Sun coughed out an energy burst that took
2 days to travel 93 million miles.
That is 46.5 million mi/day or 1.9 million mi per hour.
Like some flying cinder.
What a narrow life we lead oblivious to eruptions of the sun except that our cell phones and
other communication may get fouled up.
The sun so far away and yet we
feel the warmth. Did you feel the cinder?
Did some particles go straight through you?
Why do we not call the Sun a name?
