Happy Thanksgiving 🦃!
A rambling train of thoughts about the universe and our micro solar system consisting of our dear Sun and other planets in a magnetic dance while we hurtle through space on the face of a rock and stare at flat screens where we attempt to connect while we detach.

Thanksgiving....Again
Thanksgiving
Again
I thought I had covered
this U.S. holiday
other years.
Finding it simple just to ask...
Have a wonderful day!

Thanksgiving USA
Thanksgiving USA
We give Thanks for our Food, Water, Shelter,
Our place on this Earth,
A Strange Day to Celebrate.
Pilgrims, Turkeys, and Gourds.
Early on I never questioned
The Holiday of Westward Expansion.
My family immigrating late 1800's,
The Pilgrims well established,
Their diseases had been dispersed.
The True Native Americans,
had separated into tribes.
Divided, and half conquered,
Then diseased, hungry, crowded.
We will enjoy turkey, stuffing, squash
Pumpking pie and mincemeat.
Potatoes and gravy,
Conversation
Then repeat.
Reminding us of a year that had up's and downs,
Like all other years,
Some smiles, some frowns,
Some aches, pains and joys,
Give Thanks,
We have food, shelter, water
and
Earth.
Give Thanks
and
Remember,
Someone in need,
Someone who hurts.

Thanksgiving's Eve U.S.
Thanksgiving's Eve
Have you ever heard such a thing?
The day before Thursday,
In the U.S.A.
I heard it on the radio,
it worried me some
I'd never heard of the Eve,
seemed kinda dumb.
Must be a Gimmick, a Mistake, a Ruse,
All's I know, it was givin' me the blues,
Another whole day
To fret over, to clean,
To cook for, to shop for,
Disasters unseen.
No give us a break,
Keep it at one day,
Today I'll be napping,
What more can I say?
forecast: snowy...

Thanksgiving wish and letter to my Grandfather
Thanksgiving Wish
Wish you and Yours a happy, healthy Thanksgiving.
It is a US holiday with a good spirit behind it.
Food, friends, family, and a letter to my Grandfather,
as I recall past Thanksgivings with Mom, Dad, the family they created...
Dear Grandfather Carl Lindbeck,
Who departed the material plane sometime in 1930,
the beginning of the Great depression.
I am writing to tell you that I am surviving the century that you would not believe.
Since 1930 a lot has happened.
I think it is odd that you give me characteristics that the source is unknown to me.
Strange that from time to time I talk about you.
You are a reality to me through stories told to me by my mother who only knew you as a young child.
Would you know how much she has suffered? The loss of a father, a legend she passed on to me.
The death of a friend's twin and a best friend and other friends and family,
now Mom,
renews my thoughts of those I have lost this and last century.
You are the first.
Creator of the unit born in my Mother that became me.
Now I write to you,
hoping your retrospection will light up my way.
Technically, of course, My Mother (your daughter), was born with the egg which became me.
Therefore, am I born with hers?
So did I hear your voice on some hot July night saying,
Happy Birthday Betz,
and feel the warmth flow in a little girl
soon to be replaced with
cold fear and dread.
It was, of course, the apples that made me think of that.
Wish you and Yours a happy, healthy Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving (U.S.)
Thanksgiving
I will never forget
The grade school images, crayon smells as we colored images of Thanksgiving
turkeys, pilgrims, native americans, leaves, corn stalks, pumpkins,
then we pasted them up on the giant windows of Columbus school.
we were told they all sat down at one table, long ago
peacefully,
coexisting.
The pilgrims in our school stories never got sick, or died, nor did their
native american guides. Nobody fought or struggled, or was really real.
Those story pilgrims were as 2 dimensional as the colored construction paper.
I want the real story,
the sickness, death, the struggles extreme, the interpersonal struggles
over power, property, money or love.
How quickly did the native americans contract deadly illnesses because they had no natural immunity?
Were there pilgrims who secretly prayed for return to European civilization of the day?
How many did they bury of the pilgrims before they had the Thanksgiving harvest?
Fast forward to today:
I give thanks for all we have and hope you have a wonderful feast per the tradition in the U.S.

Thanksgiving Wishes
Thanksgiving Wishes
I wish you all the best
Even those who are green
And those who are pests
Those that are blue,
Yes, and you too,
And may you see
All that will be
And all that has been
And that we are all me
That if you hurt
Or are hungry or sad,
So am I.
I wish you all the best
Even those who are green
And those who are pests
Those that are blue,
Yes, and you too,
And may you see
All that will be
And all that has been
And that we are all me
That if you hurt
Or are hungry or sad,
So am I.
