Protesters block entrance to Vermont Gas workzone

great people peacefully protesting the proposed pipeline that does not have permits

we have only started...

Gaz Updates #fracking

Updates from the data stream on fracking, Gaz, "natural(not) gas(z)"
You know how I feel or you are new here...i oppose fracking and the building of gaz pipelines through neighbor's gardens....i believe in property rights, limits of taxation and individual freedom.
canadian gaz people threatened US citizens with take this (confidential) offer for rights to carve up your land or we will take it by eminent domain. I freudian slipped imminent domain and some wordsmither corrected me. Well, to the gaz promoters it is all imminent. I know how the lawyers work. Just like blacksmiths...strike whilst the iron is hot, the metal molten, malleable. Once things have cooled down, it is too late.
Make the sheep scurry, harass elders and individuals-women, bullied by people who don't even have all the permits yet....on with the links...my periodic update...

Summary of submissions From the group:

hey, how'd that happen?

Comments From our hardy neighbors:

At the select board meeting in Monkton last night, Charles Pughe of VGS stated that they are starting construction for Middlebury distribution. He did not elaborate, but we were under the impression that they were going to build the transmission line first and hook up Exchange ST and then come back the next year and build out the distribution line to the town. We did not ask him about details and he might have just been dropping that tidbit of information to convince us that VGS is DETERMINED to build this pipeline.
It would be good if folks could keep an eye out for activity and let the group know if you see anything.
Last week, ECI crews were surveying in Monkton for distribution, something that seems totally a waste of time as they marked stuff with spray paint and distribution for Monkton is years away at best. More scare tactics?

me: oh, and once the pipeline has begun being built and the last few private property owners refuse to give up their constitutional right to own property, pursue happiness, grow garden produce,
Then old Gaz people will stick the eminent domain argument to the US citizens.
hmmmm...
we'll see...

Pictures worth seeing...

I know you may be past the weary mark...

about fracking
and
it is a chance i must take.

sister reminded me that mom left the material plane 2 years ago today....
did i subconsiously remember that which I consciously pushed down,
the date i could not remember....only her birthday, same month....it was such a fog.

me picking apart all the decisions i ever made.

like a country song.

so as this cartoon arrived on twitter feed,
my answer to the endless words spewed....lies..."natural" gaz, "Pipeline worth taking farms"

Here it came....

Tell me that corporations don't run the gov't.....look who profits from un-natural gaz....

to mom...we see the falcons and eagles establishing new nesting sites, and I think of you.....

Fiddlin' Carson Peters - Orange Blossom Special

Truly destiny at work...happened yesterday, while racking up a few posts---schedule for today
actually helped fred plant the peppers,
the ground felt good. yes it is late, but with july evenings in the 50's, anything goes.
then
I had to "fiddle" around between blog links, html, you tube and picking the best version i could find
of this young man playing orange blossom special
i clicked one and errantly posted a lively tune....now 2/3.
this is 3/3 of Carson Peters weekend
kept thinking i had to post tunes in groups of 3....
sorry to ramble on.
just trying to say sometimes the media dictates what i send 'round the world,
and when i look back, as in this young man's fiddling and  sangin'....
it just makes me smile and be happy for a few minutes
that is powerful.

Link to George Takei interview on Jon Stewart show...Stellar!

Link to a Really great interview...
Brings some light to treatment of Japanese Americans during WW 2.
How strange that Germans were not treated the same. US at war with them.
Maybe it was that many Prussians/Germans immigrated to escape Germany,
in our families case, it was to escape the constant wars, the mandatory service.
Also strange that a 5 year old can see things as being so normal, routine.

Ratepayers, Addison Co. Residents Stage 'Fish-In", Call on PSB to Suspend Pipeline Project

What: Vermont Gas ratepayers and Addison County residents will deliver a petition signed by five hundred ratepayers to the Public Service Board and Department of Public Service, calling on them to suspend the Certificate of Public Good for Phase 1 of the Fracked Gas Pipeline.
Participants will stage a "fish-in" at the PSB office, calling attention to the bait-and-switch Vermont Gas is employing with their recent announcement of a 40% increase in project costs for Phase 1 of the Addison-Rutland Natural Gas Project.

Where: Public Service Board office, 112 State Street, Montpelier, VT.

When: Tuesday, July 22, 4 pm. Press encouraged to arrive at 3:45 pm.
Background: On Wednesday, July 2, Vermont Gas Systems announced a 40% increase in projected costs for Phase 1 of the Addison-Rutland Natural Gas Project. This additional cost will be borne by ratepayers through a 3.8% increase in rates. Over 500 ratepayers have signed on to a petition calling on the Public Service Board to halt construction and reopen the Certificate of Public Good permitting process.

Levon Helm "The Same Thing"

So it was a while in coming, this masterpiece Levon Helm built with his loyal entourage.
The first track a beauty...and it just gets better.
Posting today, because of the Sevens, I want luck to Levon on selling this, his final CD.
We still wonder how our lives came to include trips to Midnight Rambles.
I know it was a particularly low time when I said, cost is no object,
I must see my Shaman!

He believed people with ms could be helped, and if you don't know neurologists like I do (having worked many years as a nurse and now patient), you do not know how rare that is. I wrote a story about him, "For my doctor".
When i moved to vt in 1981, I went to work on the neurology-male urology hospital unit.
Interesting mix. I was 23.
I did not appreciate at the time how many great neurologists came to UVM-at that time called medical center hospital of vermont. Keeping fingers crossed for our docs and research participants...

Prayers for a friend

Prayers

for a friend,

Read her reports
of bombing,
brief reprieves,

how anti missile defense systems

I call that mass destruction.
Those who would not call it mass destruction
Does not value that which is being destroyed

Summer Reruns

(note: the local pay newspaper addison independent [but dependent on gaz ads] has commenters like myself on their online version. we commenters are forced to regulate our own tongues, surprised me that they do not moderate the comments. commenter anonymity adds another layer of confusion. anonymous or fictitiously named people reply to my honest, out there, using my name anti fracking commentary. They reply with negative thoughts about me or my beliefs or my speaking up is unbecoming or what i write makes them go daff, then they read more. is it my fault when they go daff from reading my fr*ckin' comments? The lowest blow, was one of them saying i could not be a poet. I can say now, weathered by peoples' hateful rants, it really did not bother me. which all led me to rerun this poem, one of my favorites, each time i post it, it gains new meanings. were they there all along? meg)

Summer reruns

A rerun of one of my favorites.

Summer memories are warm and sweet. I wanted to share a poem even while fearing once I let it out I will be unable to ever outdo it in feeling and depth of myself immersed therein.

Coyote Night by Mary Gerdt * 2008 all rights reserved

When we walk down a road in the dark,
And the Coyotes are crying their mournful cry,
The smells of summer drift and hang in the valley
And little night birds chirp goodnight.
The stars peek out from the clouds of August mist
The moon hangs over the hills by home.
My memories fade to days gone by
When we looked at the nights from inside.
Now we walk on the path outside
Not afraid anymore.
While the coyotes cry.

Sprachlos about #fracking Gaz

Sprachlos about Gaz,

and the spreading plague of high pressure transmission lines.

Then I notice all the other wires in our wireless world,
and the power we need,
the cables,
the waves of communication from above
and below.

Two commenters have been poking me,
back and forth we go,
if I need to defend myself or my position.
You already know I am anti fracking, anti pipeline,
if you do not know, better check your pulse,
comprehension,
memory.

So as I was speechless about the last snarky comment directed at me,
I decided speechless is a better use of my energy than a rant.

Today rewarded in my in box with a nice link to a great opinion piece in the NYT...
That is worth crowing about......

Peaceful Knitting reports #fracking

in my imagination,
hearing the story of the peaceful women
knitting, patiently waiting for answers,
my mental picture is of the scene in gone with the wind where the women had to keep strong in the face of adversity.
in this case, a few women,
whose private property is at risk.

Thanks to a fellow fracking fighter for this list.
too tired to post more,
maybe later.

Summer Present #fracking

summer present.

no, not a gift type present,
well, sort of a gift,
when i didn't even expect crumbs.

aki soga wrote a piece in the burlington free press
that went around the stop the pipeline group.

it was refreshing reading a bit of
wondering if it is all really worth it.

one sentence stuck in my craw,
where my judgement lies.

it goes like this
"Vermont would benefit from increased access to natural gas — an energy alternative that over time has proven to be less costly and cleaner than
many conventional alternatives.
Yet anyone behind a project on such a scale as extending natural gas pipeline from Chittenden County to Rutland should be ready to handle
controversy." aki soga burlington free press 7.6.14

When I learned to read it was and is very difficult for me. I had to learn to skim and not so easy.
Many words are added for fluff,
filler, looks right, justifies ads, learned that way.
To me, the three words I highlighted negate all the other words.

How have we become a state that would benefit from another f#ing fossil (dinosaur bones) fuel?
How is Aki Soga qualified to state this?
Reference please!

Also his reference to radical protests is laughable....knit in, bike chain.

Knitting For the Environment #fracking breaking!

Peaceful Knitting

Was the plea,

Protesting, Pleading, Peacefully,

Knit 2, Purl 2
Do si do,
Do you see what I see?

Peacefulness, Kraftwerk, Meditative trance,
Patience, can anyone talk to the Great Oz?

Certainly never
Mothers knitting garments so you can turn the heat down,
Verboten.

When I heard this article featuring my brave neighbors went viral,
Wanted to help crank that wheel.

This peaceful request for a meeting,
Turned stranger,
Knitters treated badly
Sore from hard work and a day of knitting,
Getting cuffed and stuffed,
Omg, save it for the real criminals.

Btw, when elderly, vulnerable and just regular Joe type neighbors
Wete trespassed upon,
Intimidated,
Made different confidential offers on easements,
Then when the landowners said no,
They were threatened with  taking by eminent domain,

Not even a ripple on Monkton pond

levon helm, all on a mardi gras day, 04-25-2010, New Orleans Jazz Herita...

Blogging Forward...Plaintain, Chapter 2...Thank you! The Chick n' Coop: Homemade Plantain Salve

The Chick n' Coop: Homemade Plantain Salve:     "Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth."...

Plaintain, A Link and Present Day Lore

Plaintain

First, the link:
Dr. Christopher's Legacy site:

http://www.herballegacy.com/Ahlborn_Formulas.html

There were no antibiotics
During the Revolutionary War

So How did they heal wounds?

I sat outside in the sun, getting what I call, "Poor Man's Laser"
(thinking gesture: quotes with your fingers like in Austin Powers...Dr. Evil)

Helps clean up the skin---add natural vitamin d
No sunscreen---limit doses of sunshine.

Nails are still ragged. Using a Gehwol product with honey and milk...nice lotion.
I reached down and grabbed a plaintain leaf.

With me since I can remember, fun to pull the strings...
on the leaves.

Later since coming here, when bitten by a black fly or mosquito,
nothing is faster than a wad of chewed up plaintain at taking away the bite.

Yesterday, I crushed a leaf in my fingers an gently massaged my toes with it.
A few more leaves, rubbed my fingers.
Nothing obvious.
(incidentally: Have been eating Jell-o also which helps connective tissue. Also did a Dr. Teel foot soak)

Last night, having second thoughts,
thought to research plaintain....no wonder I felt better
Today, noticeable improvement.

Life without antibiotics used carelessly?
Yes, I can handle that...
