the birds'
songs sounded relieved
the wind subsided,
the sun warmer now.
cooing, warbling,
courting birds, all lined up
on a line or on a branch,
i make sure to pause
long enough to hear,
close my eyes for just a second
to hear the spring
birds.
vultures are back
swallows expected soon.
