Psalm Challenge 145

Psalm Challenge 145

5 more weeks to go,
Each psalm a lesson in suffering, courage, hope, redemption.
For me, a discovery of songs, styles,
The turning Earth,
Always changing,
Always staying the same.
The astronauts up in the space station
Tweet down profoundly beautiful views
From up yonder,
In the blink of an eye,
That image travels around the world,
Inspiring beauty.

Psalm 145

Alleluia, of Aggeus and Zacharias.
Praise the Lord, O my soul, in my life I will praise the Lord: I will sing to my God as long as I shall be. Put not your trust in princes:
In the children of men, in whom there is no salvation.
His spirit shall go forth, and he shall return into his earth: in that day all their thoughts shall perish.
Blessed is he who hath the God of Jacob for his helper, whose hope is in the Lord his God:
Who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all things that are in them.
Who keepeth truth for ever: who executeth judgment for them that suffer wrong: who giveth food to the hungry. The Lord looseth them that are fettered:
The Lord enlighteneth the blind. The Lord lifteth up them that are cast down: the Lord loveth the just.
The Lord keepeth the strangers, he will support the fatherless and the widow: and the ways of sinners he will destroy.
10 The Lord shall reign for ever: thy God, O Sion, unto generation and generation.

Interview with a Clone, The Journey Home

This came to me as I pondered all the scenarios,
many had the Hollywood taint,
happily ever after or everything blows up at the end and
goes up in Pyrotechnics.

No instead, a mystical twist of fate.
The good commander,
as the rescue wagon is orbiting,
finally here,
she would be able to breathe easy again.

Just at that moment she parked the Mars rover and put up the flag,
That is when she saw….

Atlantis…
What did it mean?
All this time,
stranded here,
now urgently leaving,
forever.
Atlantis…

Ponderings on Monkton,Vermont, The Monkton Chronicles

Pondering this proposed gaz pipeline
Because my gut says urgency,
I stumbled onto this nice bit of town history.
It was on rootsweb.

http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~vermont/AddisonMonkton.html

Suddenly my next post is solved,
My curiosity raised,
My afternoon consumed.

As I read this, reminded of my poem about Haystacks,
About the first woman settler of Monkton,Vermont.

http://traveloguefortheuniverse.blogspot.com/2010/04/haystacks.html

Also reminded we are being invaded by a different country,
A fractional tribe of thieves.
Cloaked in false promises, unrevealed horrors,
Undislosed plans.

When there's a turn in the Weather....Random Findings on Twitter

That summer...............................................................................................................
I started following Janice Dean on Twitter. She is one of our favorites on the early days of us watching/ listening to imus, to connect with the NYC scene. Janice, with her smoothe style, would handle Imus's barbs as well or better than most. Her low reactivity a good lesson in avoiding confrontation. It wasn't as much about the weather. We are a few hundred miles north of NYC.
It was about Janice dodging and getting a barb in...
So today, as I surfed the twitter stream,
Janice wrote this great piece about the MonSter.
Please share and take some inspiration from the weather lady,
she is one tough cookie

This just in...........

Stranger than fiction.

More on near death experience

More from my life on near death experiences...

I've been a Registered Nurse from 1980 to present.
Spent almost 20 years in hospital nursing. All over.

Neuro, ICU,med surg, etc.
People died, people almost died, some kept dying,
Or trying to die, or trying so hard not to
And dying anyway.
There was a spectrum of circumstances.
Some people had unresolved conflicts.
That can hold you back.
Some afraid they would go to hell,
Some wanted to die and wouldn't
No one talked about it much.
It was a fact of life. Death.

Oh we learned Kubler- Ross and Maslow
And how to titrate pain meds.
The doses, the side effects, the Doctor's preferences.
We learned the protocols, the rules, laws, the procedures.
We learned some of the patients, an extended family.
We learned whose gift cookies we could trust.

Still pretty much on my own, and among some other nurses,
We learned when to ask, quietly and discretely,
After a successful resuscitation,
"Do you remember?"

Some of that came from patients relaying a disturbing memory,
Being out of body,
During a down time.

Might even have been years earlier,
Still unresolved.
Somehow, sharing a story between people
Is a powerful healer sometimes.

I talked a lot to Mom about these.
Not specifically,
Generally.
She seemed so close to full understanding.
What concepts did she fail to master?
Not many.

And here I sit somedays,
Wondering what was her experience
As she crossed over the threshold,
Having been there several times before,
This time she went for real,
Into the Invisible.

Near Death Experience...Resources

Late at night,
One of us might flip on Coast to Coast
We call it the Art Bell channel at night...620 WVMT.

Last night caught a bit of this woman's journey
To study the Near Death Experience....

Check out her blog that has links to her website,
Twitter address, and more...

Late Night #Fracking Updating

This is a little piece I got from looking for NY info.
Now as I post this I wonder how NY can say fracking isn't in their plan,
And yet the NY Paper mill is why Canadians want to run a pipeline
Through my neighbor's property.
Oh, and under Lake Champlain.
1/2 of that is in NY.
So if there ever was a leak, under a sheet of ice, will NY help?

Endangered Species II

Endangered Species II

The technology is running my posting tonight,
Really now tomorrow by the scheduling.

I was going to post my original I am an Endangered Species poem.
It just became too difficult.

So thought I might crank out the sequel to the first one.

Endangered Species II
By Mary E. Gerdt © 2014
All rights reserved.

I am still an endangered species,
American, woman, a girl sometimes.

And other women,
None too weak,
Fight for their rights
To own the homesteads they settled on.

These women prosper, breathe, drink nature's waters.
They worked and paid and made their own way.
What is different about these 4,
Women they are,
Women who were told their rights are like the wind.

The bobcat warned me,
So many years ago,
Be careful,
Tread lightly,
You are endangered too.

I laughed and gawked and drove on,
Not a care in this world.

Now these women,
Don't want frackers,
Don't want pipelines,
Don't want troubles.

Neither did my bobcat friend,
He said always move on again,
Keep moving, he said,
Keep you head low,
Your time here is short,
Those frackers should go.

One thing we know,
My cat friends & I,
If that pipeline goes in,
The little people lose,
The big people win,
Making a few endangered again.

Making Monkton Gaz' slave,
The path Canadians made,
Was serving a mill,
A bitter smelly pill.

Their picking on a few,
It could have been me or you,
Endangered again,
Could be your friend,
Son or daughter and when,
The pipeline springs a leak,
Do we turn the other cheek?

This is a first draft,
Hastily thrown down for you.
I hope you're not
Endangered,
What would you do??
