Sprachlos

 Sprachlos

1. The humongous spending bill our lawmakers spun up

Includes export of American money to foreign entities, no oversight

2. Washington Post just published propaganda cartoon depicting Republicans as Rats 🐀

Oddly or not, reminiscent of Nazi Germany, Goebbels and depiction of Jews as Rats to be exterminated by gas. https://www.facinghistory.org/resource-library/image/when-vermin-are-dead-der-st-rmer-antisemitic-cartoon

Think 🤔 Cognition

Think Cognition... Great Article by Dr. G

My comments:

I Knew it.

I Knew it and didn’t Want to know it.

You just opened a floodgate of emotions,

A Helen Keller moment.

Did it take an accident for you to revisit your unpopular observations?

I worked many years doing cognitive assessments.

The bad case scenarios are easy.

The Subtle changes are So hard to see sometimes.

Loved ones afraid, unaware or frustrated.

Insurance companies and government programs rely on checking the right boxes.

With Cognitive impairment sometimes there are no easy boxes.

Our neural messages Slow and sometimes never arrive.

The Original pathway is Damaged so your smart brain routes signals around it.

Usually unbeknownst to you.

I wrote an story  called Wheelchair Repellent.  Early on in my diagnosis I had to justify to Myself, old Neuro nurse, that I Needed DMT’s. I had Seen untreated Multiple Sclerosis when I worked Before DMT’s.

It was mostly about Cognitive changes I Feared the most.

I take my treatment, without fail.

Now about brain damage and evaluation, of course I worry about your accident and whether you had a little bump or sloshing of your 🧠. Focal changes can really hide when doing any Neuro cognitive assessment.

It’s hard to ask significant others of patients if they notice any changes. I do think it’s worth it to be open with the patient about your concerns, your need to evaluate and monitor, including significant other, caregiver in being honest. Also look at DMT regimen and teach patients how it helps. Great thoughts .

Doctor G. And EMR Dreams

My comment first:

Excellent beginning of True Healthcare reform! Positive thoughts and hopes for Patient Centered Charting. We have some of that in USA. Your ideas keep going. NHS has too much Government in it. Health Maintenance organizations can be more efficient, paid to insure patients an actuarial appropriate per patient per month fee. Shared risk between insurers and patients. Insurers are motivated to keep enrollees healthy. Rehabilitation self directed is ok. You need direction. Maybe just get an OT/PT evaluation initially and periodically. High level stuff. Your muscles get all out of balance. Best Wishes. Your recovery amazing me. 👍🏼

Healthcare

 https://multiple-sclerosis-research.org/2020/11/discharged/

I follow Dr. G who is a great neurologist. He was struck by a motorcycle while running 🏃🏻

He was praising National Health System in UK 🇬🇧

I, of course, had to respond...

Ok, about the NHS. I know the “single payer” model is a respectable goal.

Everyone gets access to care equally, no charge, quality is good.

In the USA 🇺🇸 our system of Healthcare is a hodgepodge of private, public, self pay, no pay (hospital system charity) . In the USA, you would probably have a good health insurance policy as a Dr. working in private or public hospital. There would be a pending lawsuit settlement for the motorist who hit you. You would probably have copays for inpatient  care and meds. If you were poor or uninsured, there are programs which you could apply for like government healthcare for poor Medicaid or “free care” as part of hospitals’ Hill Burton act requiring they provide some free care for non profit status. Elderly and younger  disabled like myself have Medicare. I have a Retiree Medicare supplemental plan for myself and my husband which covers deductibles. I earned that Benefit and took less salary because I had good benefits. A few self pay people stuck with a bill can pay over time. It really is a fragmented system. But flipping a switch to Single Payer System isn’t easy. For one thing Americans Don’t like standing in line, waiting, being told there are limits to their healthcare. Another is the general distrust of government deciding, well, anything. Best Wishes on your healing. Don’t overdo it.
